Swans Caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan acknowledged that the performance didn’t meet his expectations, but he expressed delight in seeing Swansea City secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Preston North End, courtesy of two impressive finishes from Jamie Paterson.
The hosts struggled to break down a resilient visiting side in the first half, but the breakthrough came in the 60th minute when Paterson skilfully guided a Matt Grimes pass into the bottom corner with a beautiful first-time finish.
The lead, however, was short-lived as substitute Liam Millar levelled for Preston seven minutes later. Nonetheless, Paterson came to the rescue in stoppage time, securing the win with a left-footed sweep in the fifth of seven added minutes.
While acknowledging that it wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing display, Sheehan expressed satisfaction with the squad’s patience and determination to secure three crucial points.
