Swansea City have announced the appointment of Luke Williams as the club’s head coach. The 43-year-old joins on a three-and-a-half-year contract from Notts County, where he led the Magpies to promotion to League Two after a successful National League campaign last season.
Williams brings his assistant, Ryan Harley, and first-team coach analyst George Lawtey, from Notts County as part of his coaching staff. They will take charge of the team for the FA Cup third-round tie against Morecambe.

The club expressed gratitude to Alan Sheehan, who has impressively led the Swans as caretaker head coach over the past month, delivering a top-ten performance in his seven games in charge. Sheehan will return to his role as assistant head coach, working alongside Luke Williams.
Williams’ appointment follows an extensive search for a head coach aligned with the club’s vision and commitment to a style of football in line with its traditions. Chairman Andy Coleman stated that Williams fits into the mold of other talented and ambitious young managers who have succeeded at Swansea City.
Luke Williams previously served as a leading member of Russell Martin’s coaching staff during the 2021-22 season, earning popularity and respect among the first-team squad. Sporting director Paul Watson expressed confidence in Williams’ coaching ability, citing his previous integral role in delivering the desired style of play during his time as an assistant at the club.
