Langford to referee Swans v Saints game

Select Group Two official Oliver Langford has been appointed the referee for the visit of Russell Martin’s Southampton to the Swansea.com stadium this weekend.

It will be the second time that Langford has officiated a Swansea City game this season, having previously been the man in the middle for the Swans home defeat against Bristol City last September.

Referee Langford will be assisted by Hristo Karaivanov and Graham Kane, with Sam Allison being the 4th Official for the game, which is being shown live on Sky Sports.

Unfortunately, Oliver Langford’s statistics as a referee don’t make for good reading for Swansea fans, with him overseeing only 2 home wins in six matches at the Swansea.com stadium.

This will be the 17th Championship game that Langford has taken charge of so far this season, during which he has handed out 53 yellow cards and 4 red cards.

The one Swans game Langford has officiated so far this season, against Bristol City at the Swansea.com stadium, saw him show yellow cards to Kyle Naughton, Josh Ginnelly and Jamie Paterson.

This will be Langford’s second Southampton game this season, having overseen the Saints 1-0 win at Queens Park Rangers in December, when he booked Joe Aribo, Ché Adams, Jack Stephens and sent off Shea Charles for two bookable offences.
