Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath scored twice to secure a 2-0 win over Swansea City at the Riverside Stadium.
The first goal came just before half-time when Swansea failed to clear a cross into their box, allowing Latte Lath to break the deadlock.
He then sealed the win with a fine finish 12 minutes from time, settling a scrappy contest with few clear-cut chances.
Despite Swansea’s efforts, particularly with good deliveries into the box from Ronald and Josh Key, they couldn’t find an equalizer.
Head coach Luke Williams will once again be frustrated by the key moments that didn’t go their way, especially the sloppy manner in which they conceded the opening goal and branded the performance as “unacceptable”.
Swansea made two changes from their previous match, with Jay Fulton replacing the injured Joe Allen and Jamie Paterson starting in place of Ollie Cooper in midfield.
Next up for Swansea City is the visit of Stoke City to the Swansea.com stadium on Wednesday evening for an 8pm kick-off in front of the Sky TV cameras.
