Williams praises clinical finishing and spirited defending

Head coach Luke Williams praised Swansea City’s clinical finishing and resolute defending as they secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Derby County—only their second away win against the Rams in over 40 years.

The Swans made a dream start, taking the lead just two minutes in when Žan Vipotnik smashed an unstoppable left-footed strike into the net after a well-worked build-up.

Their advantage was doubled when Ronald coolly finished a superb through ball from Liam Cullen, showcasing Swansea’s attacking quality.

Derby, who had only lost once at home this season, came back strongly in the second half, putting Swansea under sustained pressure.

Former Cardiff City player Nathaniel Mendez-Laing converted a penalty to pull one back for the hosts, but Swansea’s determined defensive display ensured they held on to claim an important win and send the near 500 Travelling Jacks home happy.
