Alan Sheehan praised his Swansea City players for their response after a tough week, following a dominant 3-0 victory over play-off-chasing Blackburn Rovers at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Goals from Zan Vipotnik, Myles Peart-Harris, and Liam Cullen ended a dismal run of eight defeats in 10 matches across all competitions, providing a much-needed lift for the Swans, whilst recording their first home win of 2025.
Sheehan credited the players for their commitment and application in recent days, suggesting their attitude played a key role in the turnaround.
“I put it down to the players,” he said. “After a really difficult start to the week – losing Luke, Ryan and George – it was about giving everybody the opportunity to have that disappointment and channel it into some positive energy.
“The lads’ application and desire to train this week has been exceptional. We’ve had a lot of meetings and placed a lot of demands on them. All praise to them.”
“There are a lot of bridges that have to be built, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. Today was a day for the fans to show the players some love and vice versa. That’s the way it should be. Today was a pleasing performance. I was up at four this morning looking at different things and in-game changes, different scenarios. I wanted to make sure everything was right and all the detail was right for the players and, fair play to them, they were excellent.”
Despite the impressive win, Sheehan admitted he remains uncertain about his future at the club ahead of the trip to Preston North End on Tuesday week. However, the Irishman hinted at his interest in taking on the role permanently.
“I’ve no idea, the club was in a difficult position and I was asked to step up, so that’s my duty and I have to do that. All concentration today was going into just not letting the people working at the football club and the fans getting into a dangerous position. That’s all I was thinking. All my energy has gone into today and then we’ll see what happens.”
