Background:
Hailing from Liverpool, Peter Wright was promoted to the National List of Referees in the summer of 2018, progressing through the ranks from his beginnings in the Craven Minor Football League.
His early career so him spend time in the referee academy programme run by Liverpool County FA at both Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs, alongside a spell with Durham County FA whilst completing his studies at university in the north east.
His standout performances in the National League earned him the coveted role of overseeing the 2018 play-off semi-final between Tranmere and Ebbsfleet. In August of the same year, he confidently officiated his first League Two match.
While predominantly contributing to League One in recent seasons, Peter Wright did preside over an all-Championship Carabao Cup fixture last season, witnessing Coventry City’s defeat against Bristol City.
Throughout the 2022-2023 season, Wright managed a total of 23 matches, handing out 75 yellow cards and issuing three red cards.
