Well read on to find out exactly when, who and what the Swans did on 30th November!

9 years ago in 2007 – Roberto Martinez’s League One Swans were held to a 1-1 draw by non-league Horsham in the E.ON FA Cup 2nd Round game. Guillem Bauza gave the Swans the lead in front of the SKY TV cameras but Horsham earned a reply thanks to an 85th minute penalty, harshly awarded for handball by Alan Tate. The Swans were guilty of missing numerous changes on a rain sodden cabbage patch pitch. The match was refereed by current Premier League referee Kevin Friend.

14 years ago in 2002 – A Goal in each half from Matt Murphy and Marc Richards gave the Swans a comfortable 2 nil win over Shrewsbury Town at the Vetch Field in Nationwide League Division Three. The result in front of a 3,638 crowd saw Brian Flynn’s team move to 20th place in the league table.

25 years ago in 1991 – Despite the Swans leading 2-0 at half-time, a second half capitulation saw them end up 3-2 losers at Brentford in Barclays League Divison Three. The 22nd placed Swans put the league leaders to the sword thanks to first half goals from John Williams and Andy Legg but manager Frank Burrows was left to ponder a calamatous 2nd half collapse in front of the 6,669 crowd at Griffin Park.

31 years ago in 1985 – The Swans slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Notts County in Canon League Division Three. Ian Davies made his debut for the Swans as they dropped to 2nd from bottom of the table.

  1. I am sure that I was at the Brentford game. The Swans hadn’t won away from home for a long time and it looked promising at half time. I believe Roger Freestone made an error for one of the goals by handling the ball outside the area to concede a free kick, which they scored from. I also seem to remember the Seans fielding a player called Darren Perret who I was really impressed with, although I never heard much more about him after that.
