What’s Ewood Park Like
We’re in the Bryan Douglas Darwen End; the facilities are good, but spacing between the rows is pretty poor.
Pies, burgers, hot dogs and sausage rolls are sold. Fosters, John Smith’s, Bulmers, Guinness and wine are on offer.
For the thirsty, they sell two-pint pots of lager or bitter. Blackburn fans are a friendly lot and the relaxed stewarding makes Ewood Park a pleasant visit.
Visiting Blackburn
Blackburn is a town that offers plenty of places to drink, eat, party and shop.
‘The Mall’ (BB1 5AF) is on 3 levels and has many, many high street names with Blackburn Market on the ground floor.
For those wanting the outdoors, there’s Witton Country Park, 480 acres of mixed woodland, parkland and farmland to the west of Blackburn.
The Premier Inn Blackburn Town Centre (BB1 1EP) is just a mile and a half away from Ewood Park.
Eating and Drinking near Ewood Park
There’s a bakery on Bolton Road selling hot pies from one of its windows.
Across Bolton Road by the home end is a McDonalds. Behind the Bryan Douglas Darwen End, there’s a fan zone area. It has some large screens showing previous meetings between the two sides and food and drink outlets, with ‘Pie and a Pint’ for £4.90.
The Fernhurst Lodge (BB2 4JP) is a very big pub 0.3 miles away. It fills up quickly and when full it’s a one out one in policy.
The Golden Cup (BB3 0AJ) is small selling beer and pies with both sets of fans mixing well; it’s 0.9 miles away.
On the other side of the motorway on the same road is The Anchor Hotel (BB3 0AB), 1.3 miles away. It has a large beer garden with BT and Sky Sports.
If arriving at Mill Hill station, the ‘Navigation Inn’ (BB2 4DL) is a Thwaites pub that welcomes home and away fans and is 0.7 miles away.
Near the entrance to Blackburn train station is The Postal Order (BB2 2BY), a Wetherspoons pub, which is just 1.5 miles away.
Parking near Ewood Park
You can also choose from a selection of private car parking spaces near Ewood Park, including around 40 parking spaces which you can reserve for your visit from just £5.00 for the whole day.
To get away quickly after the game, car parks nearby charge around £5 (roads around the stadium are closed for 30 minutes after the game).
As you come down the hill on the A666, pass a BP garage on the left, turn right at the next lights and on the left are industrial units for parking (£5).
After the game turn left out of the car park, takes you to the M65.
Trains to Blackburn
Mill Hill Station, is a small station a mile away or a 20 minute walk from Ewood Park and a 3 minute ride from Blackburn train station.
Blackburn station is served by trains from Manchester & Leeds. It’s 1.6 miles from the ground and at least a 30 minute walk.
Grab a taxi or bus 1, 3 or 225 to Darwen from stand N outside the station. The number 1 or 3 bus (stand N) go to Ewood Park.
