What’s London Road Like
London Road or the Weston Homes Stadium as it is now known, is a good and fairly relaxed day out with up to 1,800 away fans are in the main stand which is along the pitch.
There are pies, pasties, hot dogs and burgers available, but alcohol is not sold to away fans.
Where to stay in Peterborough
As with most UK towns and cities there are a variety accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets in Peterborough.
The nearest to the ground are The Queensgate Hotel (PE2 8AX, 0.1 miles) and Aragon House (PE2 9BS 0.3 miles).
For those looking for brand names, then there is the Premier Inn – Peterborough City (PE1 1EN, 0.3 miles), Park Inn by Radisson (PE1 1BA, 0.7 miles) and the Travelodge Peterborough Central (PE1 1FW , 1.2 miles).
What’s On in Peterborough
The city of Peterborough, hides a wealth of history. Visit Flag Fen Bronze Age Centre where archaeologists found the oldest wheel in Britain.
There’s the 12th century cathedral with the largest surviving example of a painted wooden ceiling from the Middle Ages.
Jack Whitehall is at the East of England Arena (PE2 6HE) on the Thursday, the night after the game, tickets are £19.60.
Footloose is at New Theatre (PE1 1RS) from Tuesday to Saturday, tickets from £18.
One-to-one or one-to-two lessons with resident blacksmith, Dave at Blacksmithing Workshops every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Sacrewell (PE8 6HJ), with bookings starting at £20.
From the Tuesday until the Saturday it’s the Peterborough Beer Festival at the Embankment (PE1 1EF) with over 400 real ales, ciders, sherries and wines. There’s also daily live music and events. Entry costs between £2-£6 depending on day and whether it if for a full or half day.
Eating and Drinking near London Road
The ground is a 10 minute walk from the town centre where there are plenty of pubs to be found.
Near to the ground is Charters (PE1 1FP, 0.3 miles) a Dutch barge, on the River Nene. Upstairs is a Chinese restaurant, downstairs there’s a bar with real ales on tap.
Yard of Ale is a few doors away from the Palmerston Arms. It has 10 real ales, but doesn’t sell regular lagers etc. The pub doesn’t serve food, but you can bring your own. Also nearby is the Woodston Chippy (all PE2 9PA, 0.4 miles).
The Peacock (PE2 8AR, 0.3 miles), is over the River Nene, next to a KFC.
Near the train station, the Brewery Tap (PE1 2AA, miles) is the home of Oakham Ales, it serves Thai food and you can see into the brewery itself.
Parking near London Road
Parking close to the ground can sometimes difficult and be sure to check the parking restriction signs on lamp posts, as the streets nearest the ground are residents only.
There is some street parking is on side streets up Oundle Road, but that is going away from the stadium.
There’s also a car park (£4) off London Road, on your left as you pass the ground towards the town centre.
Bus to Peterborough
For the game, the club and National Express have reached an agreement to provide a service specifically for the travelling Jacks journeying to cheer on the Swans.
Fans can purchase return coach tickets to Blackpool for the game online from National Express.
There will be three pick up points; the Swansea dot com Stadium, Briton Ferry (McDonald’s) and Port Talbot.
Tickets will be sent via email/e-ticket to fans directly from National Express, and will need to be shown to the driver before boarding.
All coaches are fully accessible, with toilet provisions available on board. All coaches will depart and return to the Swansea dot com Stadium, with two stops along the way.
Fans should be aware that buses will not depart until after the fixture has finished.
Trains to Peterborough
The station is a mile from the ground and a 20-minute walk.
Trains from Swansea leave at 11:22, 11:53, 12:23 and 13:22 for the 4 and a half hour journey.
There are no trains back to Swansea after the game, so you will need an overnight stay if you are going by train!
