On the 13th of May 2018, Swansea City couldn’t escape relegation to the EFL Championship after losing 2-1 against Stoke City at the Liberty Stadium in the final game of the Premier League season.
Since their relegation two years ago, the Swans haven’t really threatened to return to the country’s top-flight and its associated riches.
They ended last season in the 10th position with just 65 points, meaning there was no spot for them in the qualifying play-off positions.
However, this season has been a bit better so far, as they currently occupy seventh place on 42 points – just a point outside the play-off places.
Steve Cooper’s side started the season in brilliant form, as they were unbeaten in the first six matches of the campaign.
Though they seem to have taken their foot off the pedal since then, Swansea are still one of the teams in the race for a spot among the clubs who will be competing for a Premier League slot via play-offs.
Having signed highly-rated Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher and Liverpool player Rhian Brewster both on loan till the end of the season, many Swansea fans believe they now have two players who will boost their chances of promoting to the Premier League.
The Swans faithful have every reason to keep believing because the newly signed players are two attack-minded youngsters who will add more threat and quality to their attacking setup.

As for Gallagher, the Chelsea loanee was one of the shining lights at Charlton Athletic in the first half of the season. He wasted no time before settling down as he scored important goals in his early days with club.
Unfortunately, his blistering and impressive performances were overshadowed by Charlton’s poor form and run of results which led to Chelsea’s decision to end his stay with the team.
He is a versatile youngster who can feature as playmaker, defensive midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder. His eye for goal and ability to control the pace of the game will be very important to Swansea’s hope of returning to the Premier League this season.
Rhian Brewster, on the other hand, has been with Liverpool U23 side and has featured in some of first-team games this season, such as the FA Cup against Wolves.
The 19-year-old attacker is highly-rated by the Anfield faithful, who want to see him become one of the best players at their club in the not too distant future.
Brewster is a great attacking prospect and his switch to the Liberty Stadium will certainly benefit both parties, as he will definitely add more strength to the Swan’s attacking prowess.
Having trained with Liverpool’s first-team squad on number of occasions, the England U21 international possesses the experience required to shoulder the Swansea’s goalscoring burden.
However, it is far from certain whether Steve Cooper will include the two loan players in his starting line-up, when they play host to Wigan Athletic at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
