Ryan Manning has been forced out to pull out of the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan on Saturday due to injury.
25 year old Manning failed to shake off an ankle injury, which means a call up for Celtic’s Liam Scales, who signed from Shamrock Rovers in the summer.
Ireland boss Stephen Kenny sent the Swans left-back for a scan after his squad’s training session on Wednesday, as the defender sat out the session with a sore ankle.
The injury to Manning means that he will not travel with the squad to Baku.
The full extent of Manning’s injury isn’t yet known, but no doubt Swans boss Russell Martin will be keen to have the Irishman back with the Swans injury free before the south Wales derby on 17 October.
