Swansea City Under 23s 1 Pontypridd Town 1 – Friendly

Pontypridd stepped in at the last minute at Landore tonight when the arrangement with Llanelli fell through.

Pontypridd are currently top of Cymru South, the same level as Llanelli and Carmarthen.

No teamsheet.  Russ Martin and Mark Allen were present.  I’m not sure how much they would’ve learned.  We had loads of possession, dominated throughout, looked good on the ball, little cutting edge, conceded a comedy goal on 59 minutes and equalised a minute later with an opportunist effort from Jaden Forrester, who otherwise foraged a lonely furrow up front.   We looked much more threatening after Tarrelle Whittaker and Dylan Morgan came on, although they both enthusiastically ballooned chances.

His final ball was never quite there, but Rio Campbell routinely had the beating of his full back.

A good workout against a disciplined opposition who didn’t tire and never overstepped the mark even though there were long periods when they saw very little of the ball – all credit to the visitors.

Cian Williams had a really good match, sound in defence and constructive going forward.

Line-up: Hansen; Rushesha, Margetson (I think – happy to be corrected) (sub’d Jacob Jones 73m), Harry Jones, Cian Williams (sub’d Butler 80m); Abdulai (sub’d Akande 80m), Leverett, Cotterill, Congreve (sub’d Morgan 73m); Forrester (sub T Whittaker 73m), Campbell.
