Searle becomes latest Swan to gain International honours

Swans Under 23s goalkeeper Jamie Searle has become the latest Swansea City player to gain full International honours after making his senior debut for New Zealand on Thursday evening.

The 21 year old Kiwi made his All Whites debut during the 7-1 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Oceania Qualifier win over New Caledonia in Doha.

Searle, who joined the Swans from Aston Villa in September 2020, signed a contract extension with the Swans last summer with an option to extend it for a further 12 months.

It has been quite a year for the Hamilton born goalkeeper, who was also in the New Zealand squad for the Olympic Games in Tokyo last August.

He has made nearly half a dozen appearances for the Swans Under 23s so far this season, sharing goalkeeping duties mainly with Nico Hansen.
