Swansea Legends announce squad for Kevin Austin Memorial match

Details of the former Swans lining up for the Swansea Legends team in the upcoming Kevin Auston Memorial game against Bristol Rovers Legends on Sunday, 15 May, have now been announced.

The game being between Bristol Rovers Legends and Swansea City Legends is a joint fundraiser for Steve Bissix (Testimonial) and Kevin Austin (Memorial), which the proceeds being shared.

Former Swans defender Kevin Austin was a popular player with the Jack Army, helping the club win promotion from League Two in their final year at Vetch Field, and made a 150 appearances for the Swans between 2004 and 2008.

Sadly Kevin passed away in November 2018, aged just 45, having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The memorial match is raising money for Kevin’s family and as a former player with both Swansea and Rovers, it is appropriate that former teammates from both clubs should line up to play against each other.

Swansea Legends Squad

The Swansea Legends squad is a real trip down memory lane with players from the 1980s, such as Lee Bracey, to the likes of Angel Rangel taking part, with Kenny Jackett and his assistant Kevin Nugent overseeing matters.

More former Swans are likely to be added to the squad in due course.

With Bristol Rovers announcing the likes of Rickie Lambert and Paul Trollope in their Legends squad, the day is sure to bring back memories of classic Rovers v Swans games in the past.
