Swansea City 2 Millwall 0 – Under 21 Professional Development League

A comfortable enough win and workout for a strong Swans side today at Landore, played in a combination of bright sunshine and heavy showers. We dominated throughout, aside from the final 10 minutes when Millwall resurged and created a number of late chances, amazingly blazing 2 over the bar from point blank range.

We lined up 3-4-2-1: Mitchell; Harry Jones, Brandon Cooper, Nathanael Ogbeta; Fin Stevens, Azeem Abdulai, Joel Cotterill, Armstrong Oko-Flex; Cameron Congreve, Ben Lloyd; Liam Cullen. The substitutes were direct replacements for those substituted.

We hovered around the Millwall box for much of the 1st half, but direct chances were few and far between until Liam Cullen made a fine diagonal run to latch onto Cam Congreve slide rule pass to score in the 34th minute.

Congreve’s floated 2nd goal from just inside the box 5 minutes after half-time was excellent.

Liam Cullen was foiled a couple of times by some dubious offside decisions, otherwise he would have got more than his single goal. Congreve, Cotterill, Lloyd and Abdulai flourished throughout. Fin Stevens had a quietish game on the right hand wing until he went off just under the hour, likewise Armstrong Oko-Flex. Nat Ogbeta had another confident outing and looked to get forward at every opportunity.

A welcome big presence at the match from club management, the U18 squad and first teamers such as Jay Fulton and Joel Latibeaudiere.
