Swansea City secured a thrilling injury-time victory against West Bromwich Albion in front of a capacity crowd at the Swansea.com Stadium, thanks to Joel Piroe’s 20th goal of the season.
The visitors came into the game with an outside chance of reaching the play-offs if they won, and Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End also secured victories. The Baggies took the lead twice, first through Okay Yokuslu and then Semi Ajayi.
However, the Swans were determined to extend their unbeaten streak and fought back with goals from Luke Cundle and Olivier Ntcham, twice restoring parity in a captivating match.
Ultimately, it was Piroe’s moment of brilliance that settled the match, as he expertly curled a free-kick into the bottom corner with the final kick of the game to secure a vital three points for Swansea City.
The win meant the Swans finished the season unbeaten in nine matches, taking 23 points out of a possible 27, and ended up in 10th place in the table, just three points adrift of the play-off places.
