Swansea City fell to defeat at the Swansea.com Stadium as Jamal Lowe’s fifth goal of the season couldn’t prevent a defeat to Middlesbrough.
Despite dominating the first half with chances for Josh Key, Bashir Humphreys, Jay Fulton, and Liam Walsh, Swansea found themselves trailing just before halftime when Sam Greenwood scored for Boro.
The Swans responded after the break, and Jamal Lowe’s header leveled the score, but substitute Sammy Silvera’s goal from an indirect free-kick secured the victory for Middlesbrough.
Caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan had urged an improved performance from his side after the midweek draw at Stoke City, and although Swansea created plenty of chances and posed problems for the visitors, they ended the afternoon on the wrong side of the scoreline due to Silvera’s late strike.
Two changes were made from the draw at Stoke, with Liam Walsh and Bashir Humphreys coming in for Charlie Patino and Jerry Yates, respectively.
