Match Highlights – Swansea City 1 Cardiff City 1

The first South Wales derby of the season ended in a 1-1 draw as Callum Robinson’s equaliser cancelled out Liam Cullen’s early strike at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Cullen, who has scored on the 3 goals on the 3 occasions he has started a derby game, opened the scoring just nine minutes in, converting a rebound after Ethan Horvath parried a powerful volley from Ronald.

However, Robinson levelled the score for Cardiff, finishing neatly from an Ollie Tanner cutback to deny Swansea a sixth win in seven derby encounters.

The Swans dominated much of the game, particularly in the first half, with relentless pressing and standout performances from Matt Grimes and Gonçalo Franco in midfield. Despite creating several promising chances, they couldn’t find a second goal to secure the victory.

Swansea named an unchanged line-up from their 3-0 win over Preston North End, with Joe Allen returning to the bench after injury and new signings Nelson Abbey and Florian Bianchini also among the substitutes.

Post-match Luke Williams acknowledged that his side paid the price for not capitalising on their first-half dominance.

The Swans will now turn their attention to the EFL Cup Second Road, when Wycombe Wanderers are the visitors to the Swansea.com stadium on Wednesday evening.
