Williams pleased with proper team performance

Head coach Luke Williams praised Swansea City’s resilient and focused team display as they secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Oxford United. Goals from Žan Vipotnik and Florian Bianchini ended the Swans’ recent scoring struggles and ended Oxford’s unbeaten home streak.

Vipotnik struck first, converting a cross from Ronald at the far post before halftime, while Bianchini doubled the lead with a precise finish into the bottom corner from Gonçalo Franco’s assist, marking his first goal for Swansea.

Despite a late reply from Dane Scarlett, the Swans maintained their composure to seal the victory at the Kassam Stadium.

Williams expressed pride in the team’s response, highlighting the character shown by the squad during a challenging spell.

“It was a very good afternoon’s work and I was really happy to see a couple of goals go in after this period we have been through,” he said in his post-match press conference.

“It was a proper team performance, everyone chipped in defensively, and with the ball in the build up.

“I cannot criticise too much about that performance today, I would have liked us to keep a clean sheet because I think we deserved it for the most part.

“But the lads were excellent.”
