Swansea City finally broke their scoring drought and clinched a 2-1 victory over Oxford United, marking their first league win in seven games.
Zan Vipotnik put an end to the Swans’ 563-minute Championship goal dry spell by converting a close-range effort, while Florian Bianchini netted his first goal for the club to double the advantage.
Oxford attempted a comeback as substitute Dane Scarlett found the net, but Swansea maintained their composure to end Oxford’s unbeaten home record for the season.
Head coach Luke Williams made a single change to the line-up from their previous defeat to Millwall, with Joe Allen replacing Liam Cullen in midfield. New signing Cyrus Christie made the bench, while injuries side-lined Ollie Cooper and Jay Fulton.
Understandably Williams lauded his team’s “proper team performance” in his post-match press conference, as did the near 1,500 travelling Jacks, who were vocal throughout the 90 minutes.
The Swans are in Championship action again on Tuesday evening, when Watford are the visitors to the Swansea.com stadium.
