Cardiff City 2 Swansea City 1 – Under 21 Professional Development League

A rather underwhelming performance at Leckwith this afternoon, which is forming something of an unwelcome habit for our academy teams.

No need to repeat the detail of the OS report. We started 4-3-2-1, conceded an early goal on 2 minutes through lazy defending, but controlled much of the 1st half – equalising when Maliq Cadogan was put through by a smart Tom Woodward pass on 17 minutes.

We lost Seb Dabrowski after he got himself injured trying to convert a half chance, Jack Fanning initially slotting straight in at left back.

The 2nd half was a complete non-event. Sleepy defending allowed Nyakkuhwa to break away to put the hosts back in front 5 minutes after half-time. Josh Pescatore went close intermittently – the nearest being a first time volleyed cross that was missed in front of goal by fellow substitute Henia-Kamau. That was pretty much it.

Dan Watts aside, there was very little to take comfort from in our performance. Too many players didn’t rise to the occasion. Cardiff didn’t have to work overly hard for victory today.
