What’s Vicarage Road Like?
Swans fans are behind the goal; pies, pasties, sausage rolls, and hot dogs are sold.
There is plenty of leg room and normally a great atmosphere, the concourse has a bookies but is very small.
Alcohol is not sold in the stadium. Tickets are £10, £7 for 65+, £4 for students and £1 for 18’s and under.
Visiting Watford
Not the most awe-inspiring place to stop the night, but if you fancy it, it has plenty of ethnic restaurants, loads of pubs, a museum, art galleries, gardens and parks.
There are a number of chain hotels in or near Watford, including Hilton, Mercure, Holiday Inn Express and Jurys Inn.
What’s On in Watford
The biggest tourist attraction nearby is the Warner Brothers Studio tour, which is one of the places the Harry Potter films were filmed.
Eating and Drinking in Watford
The ‘Oddfellows’ (WD18 0RD) is a 5 minute walk from the ground and has a BBQ in the beer garden. Most fans head for the Wetherspoons pub ‘Moon under Water’ (WD17 2BS) on the High Street, 10 minutes away.
On the High Street street, you’ll also find Walkabout, Revolution, The One Crown, Bar Bordega, The One Bell, The Reflex, Baraka and Kandi Klub.
Please note that alcohol is not sold in the stadium.
Parking near Vicarage Road
There are car parks at some industrial units nearby and at Vicarage Road Girls School (WD18 0AE) for £10.
The ground is near the town centre, with car parks walkable. Church multi storey car park (WD18 0JD), is £1 per hour on the inner ring road, but can be busy after the game.
Alternatively if you want to avoid the crowds, you can also choose from a selection of private car parking spaces near Vicarage Road – including around 47 parking spaces which you can reserve for your visit from as little as £4.00 for the day.
The Harlequin multi-storey (WD17 2UB), costs the same but easier to get out.
The Gade multi storey car park (WD18 0JX) is the same price and a 20 minute walk; far enough away to get away easily
Train to Watford
Watford High Street station is 0.8 miles away, but most trains come into Watford Junction, 1.6 miles away.
Watford has a tube station, (Metropolitan Line), under a mile from Vicarage Road, but trains from London are quicker.
Trains from Swansea to Watford Junction leave at 11:29, 12:29, and 13:29, for the 4 hour journey.
The only train back to Swansea means leaving early to catch the 21:34, getting in at 02:17.
Tube travel is needed between Paddington and Euston and vice versa.
