Russell Martin full of praise for players mentality

Russell Martin was full of praise for his players and staff after the Swans comfortably beat Hull City 3-0 at the Swansea.com stadium.

Second half goals from Ryan Manning, Luke Cundle and Joel Piroe, ensured the Swans secured all three points against the Tigers ahead of the International break.

After the frustrating defeat on Tuesday, Martin was pleased with his sides response and mentality, saying:

“I enjoyed the game, I thought the players were outstanding in their attitude, their desire to run for each other, in and out of possession, the way we pressed even when we went in front was really impressive.

“It would have been so easy when we went in front to just sit back and settle and change a bit, but we did not do that, we were relentless.

Martin also praised his assistant head coach Matt Gill, for the tone he set in a team meeting ahead of the game against the Tigers.

The only downside on an otherwise good afternoon for the Swans, was the hamstring injury picked up by Joe Allen, which looks likely to rule him of Wales upcoming Nations League games against Belgium and Poland.
