Here in blustery and rainy Carmarthen, it was a performance to cheer the soul.
Our U21 won 4-0, it could’ve been far more, but that’s not important. What was most important is that we played a fluent attacking game and one that the players clearly thrive on.
We were 4 up by half-time, Carmarthen were frustrated and underpinned, their players got themselves involved in a needless fracas and they had to play the rest of the game with 10 men.
In fairness, they dug in, but offered nothing other than stubborn resilience.
We weren’t perfectly shaped – Sam Parker struggled manfully in the LWB role, but did himself justice; otherwise the midfield worked like clockwork, the back 3 was sturdy & comfortable; our forwards were hungry and brooked no nonsense.
Standouts were Iwan Morgan (naturally – only a post denied him his hat-trick), Liam Smith, Ben Lloyd, Joel Cotterill and Dan Watts, Ben Blythe, Filip Lissah (who looks so much stronger now).
Ben Hughes might as well have taken an umbrella. I wish I had!
