Sheehan: You saw a team fighting for the badge

Caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan praised the fighting spirit of his Swansea City team after they began 2024 with a 1-0 victory over promotion contenders West Bromwich Albion at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Liam Cullen secured the only goal of the game 10 minutes into the second half, sweeping home right-footed after a knockdown from Harry Darling in the box.

The Swans defended resolutely for the remainder of the match, with players making crucial challenges and interceptions to secure the win.

Sheehan commended the players for their hunger and determination to battle for the badge, expressing pride in the team’s effort as they earned 11 points from seven games under his interim leadership.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game against a strong, physical West Brom team,” he said. “They are a good team, and the effort and togetherness the lads showed were excellent. You saw a team fighting for the badge, and that is what made me most proud.”
