Match Highlights – Swansea City 2 Cardiff City 0

Liam Cullen and Jamal Lowe were the heroes as Swansea City claimed a well-deserved victory over Cardiff City at the Swansea.com Stadium in the south Wales derby.

The Swans, aiming for a fifth win in six derby clashes, dominated the first half as Cullen’s smart footwork saw him guide a deep cross into the bottom corner for the lead.

Although Cullen later missed a penalty they held firm against late Cardiff pressure, before Jamal Lowe sealed the win in stoppage time, to double Swansea’s lead.

This victory maintains Swansea’s status as the only team to have completed a league double in the 112-year history of this fixture.

The full-time celebrations were a fitting end to a fine team performance from the Swans, who combined attacking threat with defensive resilience in what was arguably their best performance of the season to date, and one which Luke William’s referred to as “the most complete performance so far”.

Swansea made just one change from their previous match, with Harry Darling replacing Ben Cabango in defence.

Due to the international break, the Swans next game is on Friday, 29 March, when they make the long trip to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday.
