Swansea City maintained their unbeaten home record in the Championship as an early own goal from Amankwah Forson secured a 1-0 victory over Norwich City at the Swansea.com Stadium.
The decisive moment came just four minutes into the match when the Norwich midfielder accidentally diverted a Jisung Eom cross into his own net, giving the hosts the lead in an entertaining encounter.
Swansea, full of energy and intent, created several opportunities to extend their advantage. Liam Cullen saw his header cleared off the line, while Ollie Cooper and Eom forced saves from Norwich keeper Angus Gunn. Ronald also came close, narrowly missing out on turning the ball home at the far post.
Norwich had their moments too, but Swansea’s defensive resilience stood firm. Lawrence Vigouroux made important saves to deny Josh Sargent, while Kyle Naughton and Harry Darling made crucial blocks to preserve the Swans’ clean sheet.
This performance reflected the energy and intensity head coach Luke Williams had called for, giving Swansea a solid foundation for the upcoming Championship fixtures. Standout displays came from Eom, Naughton, and Gonçalo Franco, with Cooper and Cullen working tirelessly to drive their side forward.
Williams made two changes from the previous defeat at West Brom, bringing Naughton into the starting lineup for Josh Tymon, while Cullen led the attack as Žan Vipotnik dropped to the bench.
Post-match Luke Williams hailed a big win and performance from his side, as well as highlighting the last-ditch tackle from Ben Cabango.
Next Saturday, Swansea City travel to Coventry City and will be looking to claim their first Championship away win of the season.
