Swansea City Under-17s secured a dramatic extra-time win over Cheltenham Town to book their place in the Professional Development League Cup final, thanks to a hat-trick from substitute Callum Jones.
Kaven Bloniarczyk had given Swansea an early lead, and goalkeeper Tom Wright kept them in front with a crucial penalty save. However, Cheltenham’s Cameron Walters scored a late equaliser, sending the game to extra time after Swansea missed a penalty in stoppage time.
In extra time, Charlie Croose put Cheltenham ahead, but Jones responded with two quick goals to turn the tie. Cheltenham had a chance to level from the spot once again, but Tom King hit the post, and Jones completed his hat-trick at the other end, sealing Swansea’s place in the final, where they will meet Luton Town.
