Match Highlights – Watford 1 Swansea City 0

Swansea City’s unbeaten run under interim boss Alan Sheehan came to an end with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.

Moussa Sissoko’s first-half strike, capitalising on a Swansea error, proved decisive in a game of limited chances.

The Swans created openings of their own, with Liam Cullen and Zan Vipotnik going close, while Jisung Eom struck the side-netting.

It marked Swansea’s first defeat and first goal conceded since Sheehan took charge, leaving the Irishman frustrated that his side left empty-handed.

The Swans made one change from the win over Middlesbrough as Hannes Delcroix came in to the defence for the injured Harry Darling.

The Swans return to action on Saturday, when high flying Burnley are the visitors to the Swansea.com stadium.

Post-Match Reaction from Alan Sheehan

Alan Sheehan felt Swansea City deserved a share of the spoils at Vicarage Road but admitted his side’s lack of composure in front of goal proved costly in their 1-0 defeat to Watford.

Sheehan acknowledged the frustration in the dressing room after an evenly contested match, as the Swans saw their three game unbeaten run come to an end.

“I think there is some frustration for us, because over the course of the game we have had the better chances”

“In the first half I felt we turned over the ball a few too many times centrally, obviously we gave them the opportunity to score a goal which is unlike our recent performances.

“In the second half we had a reaction, we had a good few half-chances and were the team with the impetus, and we were just lacking a small bit of quality to put the ball in the net.

“That was all that was missing that would have allowed us to get out of here with a point. I don’t think either team did enough to win it, they had one shot on target until they had another right at the end when we were having to go a bit gung-ho.

“It’s a very disappointed dressing room, but the lads have put the effort in, I thought we were a little bit leggy after three games in a week but I cannot be critical of the players because they gave it everything.”
