We haven’t beaten our neighbours at this level since 2020 and the hoodoo continued tonight at a well packed Landore academy. The weather was dreadful and the atmosphere was boisterous. Swans lined up 4-3-3: Evan Watts; Arthur Parker, Iestyn Jones (s – Zac Jeanes 73m), Richard Faakye, Seb Dabrowski; Mitchell Bates (captain), Jacob Cook (s …
Our U18 went down 5-0 in the sun against Watford at Landore. We were a goal down before we’d even settled and struggled to cope with 2 lively strikers who frequently exposed our central defenders one on one for pace. Our full backs were equally exposed by Watford’s speed on the flanks. We were 4 …
Desperately disappointing conclusion to tonight’s match with our neighbours. We gave up a 2-0 lead to succumb at the last to lose 3-2. Having completely disrupted our pattern in the 2nd half, Cardiff deserved it, overcoming a 10-man Swansea side that lost its way after half-time. We fielded what seemed a very decent starting XI …
This is a new age grade competition for us and the fixture was not terribly well publicised. We got through tonight’s tie with Newport 3-2 under the lights at Landore, but it was something of a scruffy battle after a confident start. The team was a mixture of qualifying U18 and U16 players, all of …
Our U18 gave it a good shot in the 2nd half, but couldn’t quite recover the damage done before the interval, ultimately losing 2-1 to an adventurous Wigan side. We were missing a number of players and the opening formation had a very light look about it, particularly in midfield. We operated 4-5-1, with just …
An excellent all-round performance today for our U18. We turned around an unexpected 0-1 deficit to quickly recover and run away 4-1 winners over Coventry City. Once more, we operated 4-4-2: Sam Seager; Osian Williams (s – Carter Heywood 72m), Kiel Higginson, Brogan Popham, Billy Clarke; Aidan Higgins, Jacob Cook, Yori Griffith (s – Milo …
Another high scoring affair for our U18 in the rain at Landore today, sharing the spoils 4-4 with Bristol City in the Professional Development League Cup. We operated 4-4-2: Sam Seager; Billy Clarke, Osian Williams, Brogan Popham, Callum Deacon (captain) (Kiel Higginson 87m); Aidan Higgins, Jacob Cook, Ramon Rees-Siso (s – Kai Rhodes 45m), Josh …
A tough match this afternoon against a combative and attack minded Barnsley. We survived a thorough first half examination and offered up a much more positive performance after the interval. The 0-0 result seemed a fair reflection for both sides. We started with quite an unusual formation – pretty much 3-6-1, which didn’t really help …
An exciting end to a keen encounter with Peterborough at Landore today, our U18 snatching a 3-3 draw at the death. Peterborough gave our youngsters a tough game, very quick to pin down our midfield and press high up the pitch. We operated 4-3-3: Sam Seager; Billy Clarke, Osian Williams (s – Kaven Bloniarczyk 89m), …
A burst of 2nd half scoring gave our U21 a convincing and deserved 4-0 win over a battling Crewe Alexandra side at a sun drenched Landore this afternoon. All credit to Glory Nzingo for a varied hat-trick – he could have realistically got even more – and Tom Woodward was rewarded with a 4th for …
