Topsy turvy fare in a highly entertaining game in the Landore sun today. We went behind early in the 2nd half after looking in total control before half-time, only to surge back and finally triumph 5-3. There were some terrific goals along the way. We lined up in a familiar U18 3-4-1-2: Ewan Griffiths; Arthur Parker, …
Another encouraging result for our U21 – 4-1 – this time at the main stadium. The game was preceded by a torrential burst of hailstones, which predictably made the pitch quite slippery. We lined up 4-1-4-1 and varied positions throughout the 2nd half with substitutions: Remi Mitchell; Harry Jones (sub Joe Thomas 75m), Filip Lissah, …
3 outstanding goals clinched a win for the Swans in today’s U18 encounter with Sheffield United. We fielded a slightly more mature line-up than in recent weeks. Evan Watts continued his rehabilitation from injury and both Jack Cooper and Charlie Veevers featured in the squad, the latter for the first time this season. A familiar 3-4-1-2: …
A hard fought and entertaining affair today in which our youngsters had to dig deep to withstand a fair amount of 2nd half pressure and emerge with a 1-0 win over QPR. Our line-up: Kit Margetson; Arthur Parker, Filip Lissah (sub Jada Mawongo 46m), Richard Faakye; Thomas Searle (sub Sam Parker 46m); Jacob Cook, Dan …
A morale boosting 3-1 win today for our U18 over Hull City’s academy side. This will have done the younger players in the squad a world of good, plus serving as a positive return to action for keeper Evan Watts and defender Filip Lissah, who’ve missed large parts of this season. Hull must have taken an academy …
A somewhat lacklustre 3-1 win today. We dominated proceedings throughout but, after an impressive first half hour, our U21 found it difficult to break down a well-organised and disciplined Hull side. We went 4-1-4-1 again, this time with Tiv Rushesha initially taking up the right back role: Lewis Webb; Tiv Rushesha, Kai Ludvigsen (sub Harry Jones …
An entertaining 5-3 victory played in typical Swansea drizzle. In the first half, we cut through the Ipswich defence at will. We got 2 early goals and it really could have been more even then. Although we started with a back 3 of Jones, Ludvigsen and Blythe, the team quickly settled into a fluid 4-1-4-1 formation, with …
A spirited and deserved comeback to clinch a 2-2 draw with Brum when we looked to be drifting listlessly to defeat. Strangely, it appeared as though we had an inept refereeing performance to thank for galvanising our disgruntled players to a late resurgence. Even then, the man with the whistle managed to rule out both a goal …
A very entertaining game today at Landore, a well deserved 3-1 victory over Reading in a persistent drizzle. We totally dominated the first half, Reading stepped up their game after the interval but we got our 2 goal advantage back with a well worked 3rd from sub Corey Hurford, who had a really positive impact …
The official match report already captures the detail, so here’s some summary personal observations from this morning’s match: A really hard working team performance and a well merited victory for our very young side and over a useful Bristol City opposition. Woodward, Arthur Parker, Cook, Watts and Griffith all shone in particular. The returning Iwan …
