Backhouse to referee Foxes visit to Swansea

Cumbria born official Anthony Backhouse has been appointed the referee for the Championship game between Swansea City and Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

The referee will be taking charge of his second Swansea game, having only been promoted to the Select Group 2 list of officials for the start of the 2023/2024 EFL Championship season.

Referee Anthony Backhouse will be assisted by Andrew Fox and Hristo Karaivanov, with Charles Breakspear the fourth official for the game for the game at the stadium.

Anthony Backhouse Championship 2023-2024 Record

This will be only the third EFL Championship game that Backhouse has officiated so far this season, one of which was the Swans 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday back in September.

In the two games he has officiated, he has handed out 8 yellow cards and awarded one penalty, ironically to the Swans in the Sheffield Wednesday game.

He also booked Liam Cullen and Charlie Patino in the game against the Owls.

This will be the first Leicester City game that Backhouse has officiated to date in his career.
