Donohue to referee Swans game at Birmingham City

Matthew Donohue will be the official in charge of the Swans Championship fixture against Birmingham City this weekend.

The Lancashire based referee will be assisted by Paul Hodskinson and Bhupinder Singh Gill, with David Webb the fourth official for the game at St. Andrew’s.

This will be the third time that Donohue has officiated a Swansea City match this season, but it will be his first Swans away assignment of the campaign.

Donohue was the man in the middle for the Swans recent home defeat against Middlesbrough and the Carabao Cup Second Round defeat against AFC Bournemouth last August.

Overall Matthew Donohue’s record for Swansea City games makes for mixed reading, with this being his 4th Swans away game of his career to date.

Prior to Saturday’s game, Donohue has officiated 15 Championship games so far this season, showing 63 yellow cards and 1 red cards.

The official averages just over 4 yellow cards per game and has already booked 5 different Swansea City players so far this season – Josh Tymon, Jamie Paterson against Middlesbrough and Josh Ginnelly, Azeem Abdulai and Kyle Naughton against AFC Bournemouth.

This will be the second time that Donohue has officiated a Birmingham City game this season, the other game the goalless draw at home to QPR last September, when he booked Juninho Bacuna, Dion Sanderson and Jay Stansfield.
