Swansea City secured their first Championship victory of the season with a commanding 3-0 win over Preston North End, thanks to goals from Matt Grimes, Azeem Abdulai, and Žan Vipotnik.
Captain Grimes opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before half-time. Abdulai then made it 2-0 when Ollie Cooper’s shot deflected off him, leaving Preston goalkeeper Freddie Woodman stranded. Vipotnik completed the scoring with his first goal for the Swans, converting from close range after a fine run and cross from Ronald.
Head coach Luke Williams made six changes from the midweek Carabao Cup win over Gillingham, with Josh Key, Harry Darling, Josh Tymon, Gonçalo Franco, Jisung Eom, and Liam Cullen all coming into the starting lineup.
Speaking after the game, Swans Head Coach Luke Williams was clearly a happy man saying “To have three goals and a clean sheet, you can’t really complain“.
Next up for the Swans is the visit of Cardiff City to the Swansea.com stadium for the first south Wales derby of the season.
