Another testing encounter for our young U21s, this time Merthyr Town provided too strong an opposition and took a 4-1 victory. On the balance of play this felt a slightly harsh result, although Merthyr took their chances well and were deserving winners on the night. We gave a lot of the available squad game time …
A very decent workout for our U21s at Trefelin BGC today in baking hot weather. We won the match 1-0 and in truth could have scored more in the 2nd half as our fitness told over an otherwise hard working Ynys Park side, who finished 4th in Cymru South last season. No teamsheet. We started 4-3-3: …
Our U21s drew the curtain on this season’s competition with a thoroughly convincing 5-0 victory over PDL2 North divisional champions Sheffield United at the Swansea stadium. The manner of the victory was emphatic and exacted a degree of payback – the Blades gave us 3 hidings last season, including a chastening televised 4-2 defeat at …
Our U21s secured a stirring and hard earned victory over Hull City here played out in thoroughly miserable weather here at Landore. Hull are in 2nd place in PDL North and fought tooth and nail throughout to get something out of the match. Jack Fanning’s towering header from a Dan Watts free-kick finally put the …
A very competitive and ultimately very satisfying 3-1 victory today in the Landore sun against a skilful and determined Charlton side. Coach Anthony Wright adapted to the unavailability of age grade international academy players with a youngish but still strong looking 4-4-2 line-up: Kit Margetson; Zac Jeanes, Arthur Parker (captain), Jack Fanning, Callum Deacon; Josh …
A fast paced match in the Landore drizzle that finished goalless but was highly entertaining throughout. We initially lined up 3-5-2 and varied to 4-4-2 and 3-4-3 during the game: Kit Margetson; Arthur Parker, Richard Faakye (s – Aimar Govea 53m), Iestyn Jones, Seb Dabrowski; Josh Pescatore (s – Morgan Bates 80m), Jacob Cook, Dan …
This was one of those academy games that seem to defy comprehension. Having spurned numerous opportunities in a dazzling first half display, the Swans team went into the interval with a shock goal conceded bang on half-time. With just a minor personnel change for the 2nd half, the game somehow turned completely, QPR getting a …
A rather underwhelming performance at Leckwith this afternoon, which is forming something of an unwelcome habit for our academy teams. No need to repeat the detail of the OS report. We started 4-3-2-1, conceded an early goal on 2 minutes through lazy defending, but controlled much of the 1st half – equalising when Maliq Cadogan …
Our youthful U21 will be baffled as to how this game managed to slip away from them this afternoon at Landore. Going into the last few minutes of a stoppage-littered match we were deservedly 3-2 ahead and looking to create some further distance between 2 very competitive sides. Somehow Millwall clawed back not only an …
