A welcome return to winning ways for our U21s this afternoon at Landore. We fielded a youthful side and squad, although both Dan Watts and Jack Fanning made long-awaited returns to action after some time out. No Cadogan, Nzingo or Faakye and Filip Lissah is clearly still not ready. Ben Lloyd and Ben Hughes were …
A very youthful U21 squad left themselves a little too much to do in an entertaining if sometimes frustrating evening at Landore. Having worked our way back to level terms early in the 2nd half, we promptly missed a penalty immediately afterwards – only to have visiting Watford streak away to build an unassailable 3-1 …
A dramatic finish at a wild and windy Landore this evening, with our U21 snatching a 96th minute equaliser to keep our Premier Division League Cup qualification hopes alive. Sammy Henia-Kamau got on the end of a lovely dinked cross from Ben Lloyd to score from close range to clinch the 1-1 draw. It was …
With a side packed full of attacking intent, our U21 got a deserved 3-1 win today over a capable Sheffield Wednesday.Wednesday got something of a 2nd wind in the last quarter of an hour of the game. We defended our 2-0 lead well though and a late exchange of goals completed the contest. Adapting to …
Our U21 pulled back from 0-2 and 2-3 down to secure a spirited 3-3 draw this evening, in filthy weather at Landore. We operated mostly 3-5-2, with Morgan Bates making his home starting debut at this level: Ben Hughes; Iestyn Jones, Arthur Parker, Richard Faakye; Zac Jeanes (s – Kyrell Wilson 59m), Mitchell Bates (captain), …
Our U21 can count themselves rather unlucky to come away with nothing from a strongly contested cup game with Premier opponents Southampton this evening. Ultimately, we lost 2-1 – due essentially to 2 passing errors that the visitors punished. Although we pressed hard, we didn’t quite possess the necessary sparkle up front to pull the …
We haven’t beaten our neighbours at this level since 2020 and the hoodoo continued tonight at a well packed Landore academy. The weather was dreadful and the atmosphere was boisterous. Swans lined up 4-3-3: Evan Watts; Arthur Parker, Iestyn Jones (s – Zac Jeanes 73m), Richard Faakye, Seb Dabrowski; Mitchell Bates (captain), Jacob Cook (s …
A tough match this afternoon against a combative and attack minded Barnsley. We survived a thorough first half examination and offered up a much more positive performance after the interval. The 0-0 result seemed a fair reflection for both sides. We started with quite an unusual formation – pretty much 3-6-1, which didn’t really help …
A burst of 2nd half scoring gave our U21 a convincing and deserved 4-0 win over a battling Crewe Alexandra side at a sun drenched Landore this afternoon. All credit to Glory Nzingo for a varied hat-trick – he could have realistically got even more – and Tom Woodward was rewarded with a 4th for …
Another rather young Swans side lost 3-2 to an experienced Cymru Premier Barry outfit, with Iestyn Jones and Sammy Henia-Kamau getting our goals. We fielded another very young side today at Jenner Park. Although we got through the first half rather fortunately ahead with a Iestyn Jones goal, the pressure from a physically and technically …
