A nice touch to award Michel Bates the skipper’s role.
A regulation win for our U21 this evening at Stade de la Old Road. We played 3-5-2 and were in complete control from start to finish. Ferry never gave in, but the gig was up when their centre half was dismissed on 26 minutes.
Ferry had to take off their only attacking threat to reorganise – off went winger Caleb Demery, who guested for our U18 in preseason and was looking lively to that point.
Another strong display from Kristian Fletcher, who had a hand in probably the best goal of the game when he picked out substitute Sam Parker from deep and Ruben Davies clinically finished a sweet move. Fletcher got the 6th with a wonderful piece of skill to flick on a through ball that sent him clear to go onto round the keeper.
Liam Smith took a knock, but looked back to his best this evening.
Evan Watts didn’t have a great deal to do – all the more satisfying for him to block a rare but clear Ferry late chance with his legs to keep a clean sheet.
TNS must surely await…
