An open and entertaining final friendly for the Under 23 at Landore today, resulting in a 7-2 win. AG Academy is a London-based team designed to give second chances to players who haven’t succeeded at other clubs. Unusually for a friendly, a welcome teamsheet was available today. At 9 for us was the trialist centre …
Those that were there or listening will know we were undone by 2 calamitous errors of judgement for the 2nd & 3rd goals but, in reality, we were soundly dealt with by a streetwise Bath side. We had a purple patch in the 10 minutes before half-time, but there were long periods in the 2nd half …
I attended this game at Cwmavon last night. I’d say there were about 200-300 spectators in attendance in a picturesque countryside backdrop and in blistering heat. Trefelin have a well-organised set-up and a strong community ethos – the game was arranged to inaugurate the naming of the main stand. Given it was my first game watching any …
Ynysygerwn compete in the Ardal Welsh League South West, at the same level as West End, Pontardawe and Ton Pentre. Relaxed, friendly reception – entry & track & trace recording accomplished without any fuss. It was evident that our youngsters were going to have a long evening battling to compete with an experienced and able …
With the Brighton fixture slipped a week, the U18 had a friendly organised with West Brom this morning. Our U16s played their West Brom counterparts on the adjacent pitch. No teamsheet. Entertaining, even game and the U18 finally had strokes of good fortune to come out 4-2 winners. Will Rickard, who a decent outing alongside …
Had to leave with the score 1-0 after 80 minutes to get over to The Liberty, but it sounds as though Reading got a late unlikely equaliser. Swansea had gone ahead after 17 minutes. A free header for Cameron Evans at a corner when a Reading defender headed straight over to him. Mason-Thomas missed a …
Another loss, but it didn’t feel quite the same as the disheartening defeats this side has otherwise suffered this season. The side had a real purple patch after half-time when it looked as though they could get an equaliser and this after going into the interval 2 nil down. Poor defending all the way down …
The Under 23 were undone by conceding 3 cheap goals in 8 minutes to go into half-time 4-1 down. Liam Cullen had earlier claimed a fortunate equaliser when the Charlton keeper dithered over a clearance and kicked the ball straight at him. Poor defending had seen Swansea let experienced big striker Aneke score after just …
Watched today’s game in flesh (and, boy, was it raining). Leon & Tate among the bravehearts in the stands. Very pleased that John, McKay & Peterson played – and for the full 90 minutes, as well. Peterson gestured to the coaching area with 10 minutes to go, but played on. McKay was head & shoulders …
Another heavy defeat against a physically bigger and technically sharper set of opponents. helsea dominated from the start – they’d already hit the bar before going into a 1-0 lead after 5 minutes. They missed a succession of chances before Swansea gradually got a bit of possession, but Clancy and Thomas were given very little …
