The Swans lined up with Southend trialist Harry Seaden in goal; a middle three of Cam Evans, Tiv Rushesha and skipper Ben Erickson; wingbacks Joe Thomas and Lincoln McFayden; a deep lying Azeem Abdulai with Sam Leverett, Ben Lloyd and Cameron Congreve supporting Forrester in the lone striker role. Swans conceded on 15 minutes – …
Great result for the U18 and with what was a very young side. The formation and shape was excellent and fluid – initially Mawongo, Ludvigsen and Dabrowski in the middle with Lissah and a deep lying Hillier either side, a powerful midfield of skipper Josh Edwards and Josh Carey, with Kyell Wilson further forward supporting …
A decent game today at Ice Station Zebra, but one in which our standard shortcomings were all on show: lots of possession; no real cutting edge; inexplicable errors at key times putting the team behind; lots of resilience and fortitude; a moment when we could have got back on terms; another goal for the opposition …
Not a very encouraging performance, particularly given the apparent strength of our starting eleven. We opened promisingly enough – Dhanda and Morgan Whittaker each creating chances for themselves in the first 15 minutes. Then 2 avoidable goals in quick succession – the first on 19 minutes through playing in the wrong places. Possession was lost on …
We played a 4-3-3 formation that’s been tried before this season with mixed success. This meant we dominated the middle, but looked very lightweight up front. Cotterill, Congreve and Lloyd are very accomplished at this level and peppered the Cardiff goal with shots in the first half. This masked the fact that most of our moves broke down …
It may not avert a standard feeding frenzy, but my take on tonight’s game was that: We played pretty well overall and in the formation favoured by the first team. We made some calamitous mistakes at the most inopportune moments, costing us the game. Cardiff are not, by any stretch of the imagination, a good …
All credit to Watford for sticking with it, keeping well organised, not getting utterly frustrated without the ball for long periods and not getting over zesty in the challenges. Our formation seemed to be something like 3-1-5-1 in the first half, with Jay Fulton the deepest defender – completely untroubled and in control – and …
I’m probably a bit more philosophical about today’s performance. We were playing a very good Ipswich side with an athletic forward line that rotated frequently and broke quickly, exposing the lack of pace in the centre of our defence. Our front two Forrester and Tarrelle Whittaker were starved of the ball in the first half and …
Peterborough got the draw at the last, the very least they deserved after a dominant 2nd half performance against a Swans side that fell away after a decent first half. The Swans had gone ahead after 3 minutes when a Posh defender inexplicably handled a harmless looking cross. Tarrelle Whittaker’s penalty went straight down the …
Very entertaining, open game. 4 good goals, but we created lots more. We almost paid for our missed chances as Crewe continually found the byline in the last 10 minutes. Fortunately McFayden wrapped the game up in added time, finishing from a smart Tarrelle Whittaker pass. Daniel Williams was very influential throughout, but pulled up …
