A well earned 3-1 victory for our U18s in the rain at Landore ahead of this afternoon’s first team game. We fielded 2 of our U16 squad, Brogan Popham making his home debut at this level in the absence of Jack Fanning, who’s ill. Although he didn’t feature in the squad advertised on Twitter, Milo …
We lost 3-0 today to a Cardiff side that played the percentages and took their chances – 4 shots on target and 3 goals tells its own story. Although Ogbeta, Watts and Parker were missing, we still seemed to have a decent starting 3-5-2 line-up at Leckwith: Remy Mitchell; Harry Jones, Filip Lissah, Richard Faakye; …
A reasonably comfortable 4-0 win today for our U21 against a workmanlike Ipswich side. We fielded a strong line-up in a 3-5-2 formation: Remy Mitchell; Joe Thomas, Filip Lissah, Richard Faakye (s – Jack Stafford 85m); Sam Parker, Mitchell Bates, Liam Smith (s – Aimar Govea 85m), Dan Watts (s – Charlie Veevers 85m), Lincoln …
Well, this was another academy game we really should not have lost, but tonight our U21 continued the recent theme of throwing away bright positions by conceding soft goals at key times. Tellingly, that’s the 5th time our U21 have conceded 4 goals already this season. The 4-3 defeat could be put down to a …
A disappointing return for our U18s today, we lost 4-2 at Landore to a limited Millwall team who seemed to be able to score anytime they got a shot on target. We started well, got an early goal after good work by Aimar Govea on the left, couldn’t capitalise on further chances and remarkably found …

A personal perspective. The match was no contest, as we fielded a very strong line-up with overage first team squad players Kyle Naughton, Liam Walsh, Oli Cooper and Cameron Congreve all starting. Line-up was a fairly adaptable 4-3-3: Evan Watts; Sam Parker, Filip Lissah, Kyle Naughton (s- Maliq Cadogan 62m), Nathan Tjoe-A-On (s- Richard Faakye …
A sound team performance and decent 4-1 result for our U18 against QPR at Landore this morning. Rain was bucketing down beforehand, but the pitch was in good condition and the game was mostly played in bright sunshine. We lined up a familiar 3-4-2-1: Ewan Griffiths (captain); Arthur Parker, Ben Phillips, Iestyn Jones; Cameron Llewellyn …
A nice touch to award Michel Bates the skipper’s role. A regulation win for our U21 this evening at Stade de la Old Road. We played 3-5-2 and were in complete control from start to finish. Ferry never gave in, but the gig was up when their centre half was dismissed on 26 minutes. Ferry …
With 21 goals scored in the last 3 home academy matches, regular observers at Landore can’t really complain about a lack of entertainment! I won’t repeat the detail of the OS report, here are some personal observations:
