A thoroughly entertaining 9 goal contest at Landore today – unfortunately 6 goals to the visitors! At half-time we were 3-2 up, but our defence went missing after the interval and Charlton seemed to score at will. Not that our defenders were particularly poor – Jack Fanning, Arthur Parker and U16 graduate Ben Phillips all …
A convincing 2nd half performance gave our U21 a 4-0 win over Hull in the Premier League Cup this evening. It wasn’t easy, Hull fought hard but crumbled after the first goal immediately into the 2nd half. Line-up: 3-5-2 : Ben Hughes; Harry Jones, Filip Lissah (captain) (s – Kai Ludvigsen 80m), Richard Faakeye; Joe …
A thrilling cup victory via penalties over this evening over our near neighbours. It wasn’t plain sailing. We should have been out of sight well before having to go to penalties – although our players came through that challenge with flying colours. The particulars: we played 4-2-3-1 – Evan Watts; Sam Parker, Kai Ludvigsen, Filip …
Not the most stylish of performances, although our young side can take credit for a hardworking 1-0 win earlier today. We started a familiar U18 3-4-2-1: Kit Margetson; Arthur Parker (captain), Ben Phillips, Teo Minchev; Cameron Llewellyn, Harlan Perry, Jacob Cook, Aimar Govea; Thomas Woodward, Yori Griffith; Rohan Davies. We ended the game as a …
A wholly convincing 4-0 victory today in the stadium sun. A little ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ after the interval, Hull were blown away by the flurry of first half goals and simply looked to keep possession and avoid conceding a hatful. No need to repeat the detail of the official report: the most interesting …
An entertaining 4-2 PDL Cup win at Landore today against our rivals Cardiff City. There may be times this season when our U18 won’t be able to score enough to offset the number of goals they insist on chucking into their own net, but today was satisfying. Team formation was 3-4-2-1: Kit Margetson; Arthur Parker, …
A 3-1 defeat today for our U18 sounds a convincing loss. Sheffield Wednesday deserved their victory overall, but our team shouldn’t be disheartened. This is a very young U18 side this season. We’ve lost a number of last season’s key players, rightly promoted upwards, we were missing a couple more through injury (notably Yori Griffith) …
A commanding performance, not wholly fluent to begin with, but we completely dominated the final 3rd of the game and should have scored a hatful of goals. As it was, Crewe were fortunate to get away with conceding just the 4 and somehow managed to get themselves a consolation in the dying seconds to go …
A somewhat fortunate 2-1 win for our U18 side today against a Peterborough side that dominated long spells of the game. A year or two makes such a difference at this level – Peterborough looked a little more mature as a group and we fielded a very young side, who will have learned a lot …
The U21 won this evening 7-1. 2-1 at HT but ran a tired side ragged after an hour. Could’ve easily been double figures. In fairness, the Penybont keeper performed wonders. Very pleasing outing with lots of good exposure for our youngsters. I’ll be a bit more specific once I’ve totted things up! Tricky to follow, …
