Here in blustery and rainy Carmarthen, it was a performance to cheer the soul. Our U21 won 4-0, it could’ve been far more, but that’s not important. What was most important is that we played a fluent attacking game and one that the players clearly thrive on. We were 4 up by half-time, Carmarthen were …
An entertaining game in which our very youthful U18 side took on their Briton Ferry Llansawel equivalents at Llandarcy Park, winning 3-0. Free entry, no teamsheet. Lots of substitutions and fair number of new faces, but I believe the following line-up and changes are right – with some credit to Jack Chapman and the injured …
Cymru drew 2-2 in the return game this afternoon. The cooler weather suited both sides. Sweden edged 2-1 ahead before half-time with 2 very good goals by right winger Agbonifo and after Cardiff’s Japhet Matondo had initially put the home side 1 up on 9 minutes with a speculative cross cum shot. Lewis Koumas got …
Fairly uneventful friendly at Leckwith this evening, resulting in a 1-0 defeat. The mass substitutions probably didn’t help, although there was very little pattern to Wales’s play. It was almost as if coach Rob Edwards (ex Bristol City) didn’t quite know how to use the players at his disposal. Liverpool’s Lewis Koumas – son of …
Folk will have seen the highlights, so it’ll be evident what great quality we showed in both creating and finishing chances this afternoon. The combination play between Ben Lloyd and Liam Smith in particular was a joy to watch. Birmingham had no answer to Smith’s probing breaks, they reorganised after 20 minutes from 4-4-2 to 5-3-2 …
Our U21 stuttered a little to a 3-1 victory this evening – not the most convincing of performances, but we’ve been spoiled lately. Our youngsters still managed to hit the woodwork 3 times and, while the display had moments of sloppiness, we created lots of chances throughout the game. Line-up (4-1-4-1): Remi Mitchell; Joe Thomas, Harry …
Another highly entertaining game at Landore. It was Darren Davies’s last in charge and a fitting farewell. After going 3-1 down just before half-time to a bright Wigan side, our U18 got an immediate riposte and then scored a further 5 goals to finish 7-3 winners. Our line-up in a familiar 3-4-1-2 formation: Kit Margetson; Arthur …
Topsy turvy fare in a highly entertaining game in the Landore sun today. We went behind early in the 2nd half after looking in total control before half-time, only to surge back and finally triumph 5-3. There were some terrific goals along the way. We lined up in a familiar U18 3-4-1-2: Ewan Griffiths; Arthur Parker, …
Another encouraging result for our U21 – 4-1 – this time at the main stadium. The game was preceded by a torrential burst of hailstones, which predictably made the pitch quite slippery. We lined up 4-1-4-1 and varied positions throughout the 2nd half with substitutions: Remi Mitchell; Harry Jones (sub Joe Thomas 75m), Filip Lissah, …
3 outstanding goals clinched a win for the Swans in today’s U18 encounter with Sheffield United. We fielded a slightly more mature line-up than in recent weeks. Evan Watts continued his rehabilitation from injury and both Jack Cooper and Charlie Veevers featured in the squad, the latter for the first time this season. A familiar 3-4-1-2: …
