We played a 4-3-3 formation that’s been tried before this season with mixed success. This meant we dominated the middle, but looked very lightweight up front. Cotterill, Congreve and Lloyd are very accomplished at this level and peppered the Cardiff goal with shots in the first half. This masked the fact that most of our moves broke down …
Swansea City became the first side to win at the CBS Arena this season, after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Coventry City last night. Goals from Jamie Paterson and Joel Piroe in the first 12 minutes set the Swans on their way to the 3 points, before Sky Blues captain Kyle McFadzean halved the deficient …
It may not avert a standard feeding frenzy, but my take on tonight’s game was that: We played pretty well overall and in the formation favoured by the first team. We made some calamitous mistakes at the most inopportune moments, costing us the game. Cardiff are not, by any stretch of the imagination, a good …
The Swans eased to a 3-0 victory over Peterborough United this afternoon thanks to first half goals from Jake Bidwell, Joel Piroe and Olivier Ntcham to claim their fourth consecutive home win. The last time the Swans managed that feat was April 2019, when Graham Potter managed victories over Brentford, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Rotherham …
All credit to Watford for sticking with it, keeping well organised, not getting utterly frustrated without the ball for long periods and not getting over zesty in the challenges. Our formation seemed to be something like 3-1-5-1 in the first half, with Jay Fulton the deepest defender – completely untroubled and in control – and …
Given it’s Swansea City and the fact that Birmingham were without a win in any of their last seven league games, it was perhaps inevitable that the Blues would beat Russell Martin’s side 2-1 at St. Andrew’s this afternoon. The Swans were missing Flynn Downes and Ben Cabango due to knocks picked up in the …
I’m probably a bit more philosophical about today’s performance. We were playing a very good Ipswich side with an athletic forward line that rotated frequently and broke quickly, exposing the lack of pace in the centre of our defence. Our front two Forrester and Tarrelle Whittaker were starved of the ball in the first half and …
Peterborough got the draw at the last, the very least they deserved after a dominant 2nd half performance against a Swans side that fell away after a decent first half. The Swans had gone ahead after 3 minutes when a Posh defender inexplicably handled a harmless looking cross. Tarrelle Whittaker’s penalty went straight down the …
Very entertaining, open game. 4 good goals, but we created lots more. We almost paid for our missed chances as Crewe continually found the byline in the last 10 minutes. Fortunately McFayden wrapped the game up in added time, finishing from a smart Tarrelle Whittaker pass. Daniel Williams was very influential throughout, but pulled up …
An entertaining game, but largely due to the performance of the visitors who, as the match progressed, dominated possession and created a host of chances. Fairly uneventful first half. We played 4-3-3 but struggled to get wingers Wilson and Hillier and centre forward Geoff Bony into the game. Our first attempt on goal came almost …
