Swansea City News, Match Reports & Academy
With 21 goals scored in the last 3 home academy matches, regular observers at Landore can’t really complain about a lack of entertainment! I won’t repeat the detail of the OS report, here are some personal observations:
Here is an image slideshow from the Under 18 Professional Development League game between Swansea City and Charlton Athletic at the Swansea City Academy in Landore on Saturday, 30 September 2023. Swansea City Under-18s suffered a heavy defeat against the reigning Professional Development League South champions Charlton Athletic in an action-packed match at Landore. In …
A thoroughly entertaining 9 goal contest at Landore today – unfortunately 6 goals to the visitors! At half-time we were 3-2 up, but our defence went missing after the interval and Charlton seemed to score at will. Not that our defenders were particularly poor – Jack Fanning, Arthur Parker and U16 graduate Ben Phillips all …
Not the most stylish of performances, although our young side can take credit for a hardworking 1-0 win earlier today. We started a familiar U18 3-4-2-1: Kit Margetson; Arthur Parker (captain), Ben Phillips, Teo Minchev; Cameron Llewellyn, Harlan Perry, Jacob Cook, Aimar Govea; Thomas Woodward, Yori Griffith; Rohan Davies. We ended the game as a …
A wholly convincing 4-0 victory today in the stadium sun. A little ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ after the interval, Hull were blown away by the flurry of first half goals and simply looked to keep possession and avoid conceding a hatful. No need to repeat the detail of the official report: the most interesting …
A 3-1 defeat today for our U18 sounds a convincing loss. Sheffield Wednesday deserved their victory overall, but our team shouldn’t be disheartened. This is a very young U18 side this season. We’ve lost a number of last season’s key players, rightly promoted upwards, we were missing a couple more through injury (notably Yori Griffith) …
A commanding performance, not wholly fluent to begin with, but we completely dominated the final 3rd of the game and should have scored a hatful of goals. As it was, Crewe were fortunate to get away with conceding just the 4 and somehow managed to get themselves a consolation in the dying seconds to go …
Here is an image slideshow from the Under 18 Professional Development League game between Swansea City and Peterborough United at the Swansea City Academy in Landore on Saturday, 12 August 2023. The Swans Under-18s got the season off to a winning start with a hard earned 2-1 win over the Posh at a blustery Landore …
A somewhat fortunate 2-1 win for our U18 side today against a Peterborough side that dominated long spells of the game. A year or two makes such a difference at this level – Peterborough looked a little more mature as a group and we fielded a very young side, who will have learned a lot …
Folk will have seen the highlights, so it’ll be evident what great quality we showed in both creating and finishing chances this afternoon. The combination play between Ben Lloyd and Liam Smith in particular was a joy to watch. Birmingham had no answer to Smith’s probing breaks, they reorganised after 20 minutes from 4-4-2 to 5-3-2 …
