Mixed feelings from this game: we started slowly, conceded early and sloppily and looked as though we’d be overwhelmed, despite fielding the majority of the team that has performed so well in recent weeks. The set-up was familiar: 3 central defenders, 2 full backs with licence to roam, a middle pair and a front pair …
2-1 sounds closer than it was – we really should have been out of sight in the 2nd half. The players should be rightly proud of their display today. A few isolated self-inflicted errors aside, this was a powerful performance and a credit to the team. We played a distinct 3-4-3 when in possession and …
Great result for the U18 and with what was a very young side. The formation and shape was excellent and fluid – initially Mawongo, Ludvigsen and Dabrowski in the middle with Lissah and a deep lying Hillier either side, a powerful midfield of skipper Josh Edwards and Josh Carey, with Kyell Wilson further forward supporting …
A decent game today at Ice Station Zebra, but one in which our standard shortcomings were all on show: lots of possession; no real cutting edge; inexplicable errors at key times putting the team behind; lots of resilience and fortitude; a moment when we could have got back on terms; another goal for the opposition …
Ynysygerwn compete in the Ardal Welsh League South West, at the same level as West End, Pontardawe and Ton Pentre. Relaxed, friendly reception – entry & track & trace recording accomplished without any fuss. It was evident that our youngsters were going to have a long evening battling to compete with an experienced and able …
With the Brighton fixture slipped a week, the U18 had a friendly organised with West Brom this morning. Our U16s played their West Brom counterparts on the adjacent pitch. No teamsheet. Entertaining, even game and the U18 finally had strokes of good fortune to come out 4-2 winners. Will Rickard, who a decent outing alongside …
Another loss, but it didn’t feel quite the same as the disheartening defeats this side has otherwise suffered this season. The side had a real purple patch after half-time when it looked as though they could get an equaliser and this after going into the interval 2 nil down. Poor defending all the way down …
Another heavy defeat against a physically bigger and technically sharper set of opponents. helsea dominated from the start – they’d already hit the bar before going into a 1-0 lead after 5 minutes. They missed a succession of chances before Swansea gradually got a bit of possession, but Clancy and Thomas were given very little …
Another heavy defeat for the youngsters, I’m afraid – and after a really open, encouraging first half in which they took the lead when Charlie Clancy converted a rebound past the keeper. Ali Al-Hamadi had his shot blocked in a 1 on 1 with the goalie soon after, but The Swans went into half-time ahead. …
The youngsters came close to achieving an unlikely win. Under the cosh for much of the first half, they went 1 up after 20 minutes when Al-Hamadi’s powerful run into the area was blocked by a foul, Rickard (I think) stepping up to convert the penalty. It got even better after an hour when Rickard …
