The young Swans claimed their first win in the Professional Development League Cup with a comfortable 4-2 win over Exeter thanks to goals from Iwan Morgan, Geoff Bony …
4-2 sounds like a convincing enough win but, in truth, Exeter got off lightly. We’d already beaten this side 5-1 in an August friendly and today really should have scored far more goals and conceded less. Coach Darren Davies used the opportunity to trial players in different positions. We lined up as 3-4-2-1: Kit Margetson; Arthur …
Here is an image slideshow from the Under 18s Professional Development League game between the Swans and Charlton Athletic at Landore on Saturday, 1 October 2022. The game was delayed 30 minutes due to the Charlton team getting stuck in traffic on the M4, but it didn’t seem to affect the reigning Professional Development League …
It was an unusual match in all respects. Spectators couldn’t get into the ground via the normal entrance, as there was a kids tournament taking place on the pitches closest to the Liberty and today’s stewards didn’t seem to have any knowhow as to how U18 games are run. Swansea City Under-18s were defeated by Coventry City Under-18s in their first Premier League Development home fixture of the season. A thoroughly entertaining friendly in thoroughly miserable weather! The meagre crowd had to put up with being fully exposed to the elements – the game was taking place on the open pitch nearest the academy and for which the available cover was unhelpfully roped off. There were wholesale personnel changes made by Swansea at half-time, …
Swansea City Under 18s played their last home game of the 2021-2022 Professional Development League yesterday afternoon, when Watford were the visitors to Landore. The ten-man Swans suffered a 2-1 defeat to Watford, with head coach Darren Davies feeling his side deserved more from the game. The defeat was the young Swans only loss in …
The Official Site match report is accurate enough in terms of key events in today’s 1-2 defeat. Also worth mentioning: How well our young side coped when down to 10 men for the last 20+ minutes. It was a real insight to watch and listen to Darren Davies coaching and coaxing his team through the rest …
A tough and competitive game in very unkind circumstances – it was harsh enough having to sit in the stand being blown about the place, the effect on the players and their judgement of passes was notable. In spite of fielding 5 trialists, Hull were a very decent side and on another day might have got …
