Pontypridd stepped in at the last minute at Landore tonight when the arrangement with Llanelli fell through. Pontypridd are currently top of Cymru South, the same level as Llanelli and Carmarthen. No teamsheet. Russ Martin and Mark Allen were present. I’m not sure how much they would’ve learned. We had loads of possession, dominated throughout, …
It may not avert a standard feeding frenzy, but my take on tonight’s game was that: We played pretty well overall and in the formation favoured by the first team. We made some calamitous mistakes at the most inopportune moments, costing us the game. Cardiff are not, by any stretch of the imagination, a good …
All credit to Watford for sticking with it, keeping well organised, not getting utterly frustrated without the ball for long periods and not getting over zesty in the challenges. Our formation seemed to be something like 3-1-5-1 in the first half, with Jay Fulton the deepest defender – completely untroubled and in control – and …
I’m probably a bit more philosophical about today’s performance. We were playing a very good Ipswich side with an athletic forward line that rotated frequently and broke quickly, exposing the lack of pace in the centre of our defence. Our front two Forrester and Tarrelle Whittaker were starved of the ball in the first half and …
Peterborough got the draw at the last, the very least they deserved after a dominant 2nd half performance against a Swans side that fell away after a decent first half. The Swans had gone ahead after 3 minutes when a Posh defender inexplicably handled a harmless looking cross. Tarrelle Whittaker’s penalty went straight down the …
Very entertaining, open game. 4 good goals, but we created lots more. We almost paid for our missed chances as Crewe continually found the byline in the last 10 minutes. Fortunately McFayden wrapped the game up in added time, finishing from a smart Tarrelle Whittaker pass. Daniel Williams was very influential throughout, but pulled up …
An open and entertaining final friendly for the Under 23 at Landore today, resulting in a 7-2 win. AG Academy is a London-based team designed to give second chances to players who haven’t succeeded at other clubs. Unusually for a friendly, a welcome teamsheet was available today. At 9 for us was the trialist centre …
Those that were there or listening will know we were undone by 2 calamitous errors of judgement for the 2nd & 3rd goals but, in reality, we were soundly dealt with by a streetwise Bath side. We had a purple patch in the 10 minutes before half-time, but there were long periods in the 2nd half …
I attended this game at Cwmavon last night. I’d say there were about 200-300 spectators in attendance in a picturesque countryside backdrop and in blistering heat. Trefelin have a well-organised set-up and a strong community ethos – the game was arranged to inaugurate the naming of the main stand. Given it was my first game watching any …
Fans will be able to watch the Swans Under 23s side in action at Ynys Park, home of Cymru League South side Trefelin Boys and Girls Club on Tuesday, 20 July. Kick-off is at 6:30pm. The game has been arranged to celebrate the naming of the ‘Steve Green’ stand at Ynys Park, with the £3 …
