The Official Site match report is accurate enough in terms of key events in today’s 1-2 defeat. Also worth mentioning: How well our young side coped when down to 10 men for the last 20+ minutes. It was a real insight to watch and listen to Darren Davies coaching and coaxing his team through the rest …
A tough and competitive game in very unkind circumstances – it was harsh enough having to sit in the stand being blown about the place, the effect on the players and their judgement of passes was notable. In spite of fielding 5 trialists, Hull were a very decent side and on another day might have got …
An entertaining game, one that we mostly dominated but paid the price by not killing the match off well before the visitors unexpectedly got back in. Recognisable but fluid U23 setup: 3-1-5-1. Hansen in goal; middle trio of Ludvigsen, Rushesha, Stafford; Abudalai the deepest midfielder, with 2 advanced wingbacks Joe Thomas and Lincoln McFayden; Yan Dhanda …
A very pleasing and entertaining game on home turf. We won 5-1 but could have had double figures, such was our dominance. Back 3 of Cameron Evans, Tiv Rushesha and recent recruit Jack Stafford; wingbacks Ogbeta on the left, Lincoln McFayden on the right; middle grouping of Azeem Abdulai in front of the back 3 …
Mixed feelings from this game: we started slowly, conceded early and sloppily and looked as though we’d be overwhelmed, despite fielding the majority of the team that has performed so well in recent weeks. The set-up was familiar: 3 central defenders, 2 full backs with licence to roam, a middle pair and a front pair …
Our U21 (or mostly our U18 representing our U21) went down to a 4-0 defeat to visiting Stoke City in today’s Premier League Cup tie at Landore. We started brightly enough, before Stoke gradually took control, scoring initially through a 21t minute penalty from centre forward Nathan Lowe. Lowe got a 2nd on 45 minutes after …
2-1 sounds closer than it was – we really should have been out of sight in the 2nd half. The players should be rightly proud of their display today. A few isolated self-inflicted errors aside, this was a powerful performance and a credit to the team. We played a distinct 3-4-3 when in possession and …
The Swans lined up with Southend trialist Harry Seaden in goal; a middle three of Cam Evans, Tiv Rushesha and skipper Ben Erickson; wingbacks Joe Thomas and Lincoln McFayden; a deep lying Azeem Abdulai with Sam Leverett, Ben Lloyd and Cameron Congreve supporting Forrester in the lone striker role. Swans conceded on 15 minutes – …
Great result for the U18 and with what was a very young side. The formation and shape was excellent and fluid – initially Mawongo, Ludvigsen and Dabrowski in the middle with Lissah and a deep lying Hillier either side, a powerful midfield of skipper Josh Edwards and Josh Carey, with Kyell Wilson further forward supporting …
No need to repeat too much of the facts of the game – there’s even a blog on it by West Ham with a promise of a video to follow. We were pretty decent most of the match. Played a fluid 3-4-2-1 formation: Erickson right side, Brandon Cooper middle, Margetson left side of defence; Harry Jones …
